Touring and GT

Touring car and GT series around the world.

Touring cars and GT cars are race machines based on road models. This page covers five major series built on them, with their formats and results as of October 2026.

Wikipedia (secondary) describes touring cars as four-seat race cars derived from production models, with limited aerodynamics that make close racing and passing easier, and names Supercars, the BTCC and the DTM among the major series. GT racing uses production-based two-seaters split into classes, and Wikipedia calls GT3 the most popular of them. Our touring and GT guide explains the cars; this page covers the series.

Supercars Championship (Australia)

Supercars raced the Gen3 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and Ford Mustang S650 in 2025, per Wikipedia (secondary). Toyota Australia announced a GR Supra entry from 2026, making the first three-make grid since 2019, with a commitment of at least five years. Speedcafe reports that Walkinshaw (with Chaz Mostert and Ryan Wood) and Brad Jones Racing debuted a five-car Supra fleet at the season-opening Sydney 500; six cars had originally been planned. Walkinshaw raced as Walkinshaw Andretti United to 2025 and as Walkinshaw TWG Racing in 2026.

The title is decided by a Finals Series over the last events of the year, ending in an Adelaide Grand Final. Wikipedia (secondary) describes points resets and bonuses at each stage of the finals, but those details could not be confirmed against Supercars' own rules, so we do not list them.

Results

  • 2025: Chaz Mostert won his first title. Supercars' official final standings show Mostert on 5,306 points, Will Brown 5,244 and Broc Feeney 5,240; Motorsport.com gives Mostert 5,316, and we follow the official figure. ABC News reports that Mostert finished second to Matt Payne in the deciding race, while Feeney dropped to 20th after a first-lap spin. Wikipedia (secondary) adds that Triple Eight Race Engineering won a record 13th teams' title and Feeney won the Sprint Cup.
  • 2026: in progress as of October 2026, with no champion yet. Supercars' official calendar has 14 rounds, from the Sydney 500 (20 to 22 February, Sydney Motorsport Park) to the Adelaide Grand Final (26 to 29 November), with the Gold Coast 500 on 23 to 25 October and the Sandown 500 on 6 to 8 November. Current standings after Bathurst were not available from an official source.

The Bathurst 1000

The Bathurst 1000 is a 1,000 km Supercars race of 161 laps around the Mount Panorama circuit, and part of the series' Enduro Cup.

  • 2025: ABC News and Speedcafe report that Matt Payne and Garth Tander (Grove Racing, No. 100 Ford Mustang) won a rain-soaked race from 18th on the grid, taking the lead six laps from the end. It was Payne's first Bathurst win and Tander's sixth, ended a six-year Ford drought there, and gave them the Enduro Cup. Tander later retired from co-driving.
  • 2026 (8 to 11 October): Autosport's classification shows Brodie Kostecki and Todd Hazelwood (Dick Johnson Racing, Ford Mustang S650) winning over the full 161 laps in 5 h 54 min 04.749 s. Will Brown and Scott Pye (Triple Eight, Ford Mustang) were second, 1.1844 s behind, and Zane Bates and Andre Seton (Matt Stone Racing, Chevrolet Camaro) third, 1.9265 s back. RACER's report says the winners made a late pass on the Mountain Straight after the leading Team 18 Chevrolet slowed. Wikipedia (secondary) calls it the 69th running.

DTM (Germany)

The DTM runs to GT3 rules; Wikipedia (secondary) calls 2025 its fifth season under them, with eight rounds of two races. Autosport and the DTM's own event pages show the 2026 season as eight weekends and 16 races in Germany, the Netherlands and Austria, opening at the Red Bull Ring (24 to 26 April) and ending at the Hockenheimring (9 to 11 October), with Zandvoort, the Lausitzring, the Norisring, Oschersleben, the Nurburgring and the Sachsenring in between.

BTCC (British Touring Car Championship)

Wikipedia (secondary) says 2025 was the 15th season of the Next Generation Touring Car rules and the first on 100% renewable fuel, with the hybrid boost replaced by a turbo boost and the cars 55 kg lighter. That season had 10 rounds of three races each. For 2026 the BTCC added an all-new 10-lap Saturday Qualifying Race after qualifying, which Wikipedia (secondary) says runs at every meeting, followed by three races on Sunday; the official site lists the 10th and final round at Brands Hatch GP on 10 to 11 October 2026.

  • 2025: Autosport reports that Tom Ingram (Team VERTU Hyundai) became a two-time champion, after 2022, by winning the second race of the Brands Hatch finale, with Ashley Sutton runner-up. Touring Car Times reports NAPA Racing UK took a fourth straight teams' title, narrowly ahead of Team VERTU, and EXCELR8/Hyundai won its first manufacturers' title by three points.
  • 2026: Autosport (28 September 2026) reports that Ash Sutton (NAPA Racing UK, Ford Focus) won a record fifth title, after 2017, 2020, 2021 and 2023. He clinched it at Silverstone in race two, with four races to spare. Ingram secured second in the championship with two wins at the Brands Hatch finale.

Super GT (Japan)

Super GT runs two classes in every race. Wikipedia (secondary) describes GT500 as 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder cars from Toyota, Nissan and Honda, paying 20 points for a win down to 1 for 10th plus 1 for pole, and GT300 as GT3-style and other cars, paying 25 down to 1 for 15th. Successful cars carry success ballast, extra weight; above 50 kg of nominal success weight, GT300 cars get a fuel-flow restrictor instead of more ballast.

  • 2025: Sho Tsuboi and Kenta Yamashita (No. 1 au TOM'S GR Supra) won GT500, per Bridgestone and the Japanese outlet Web CarTop. Web CarTop calls it the car's first-ever third straight GT500 title; only that one source says so. The GT300 champions were Naoya Gamou and Togo Suganami (No. 65 K2 R&D LEON Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3), by one point over Kohei Hirate.
  • 2026: in progress as of October 2026. Honda's Prelude-GT replaced the Civic Type R-GT in GT500. Sportscar365 reports that the Sepang round (19 to 21 June) was postponed indefinitely, citing the Middle East situation and higher freight, air and fuel costs; Wikipedia (secondary) describes it as cancelled. Motegi became a double-header, with an extra race on Saturday 7 November before the finale on 8 November, to keep eight races.

GT World Challenge Europe

Wikipedia (secondary) says SRO Motorsports Group runs GT World Challenge Europe for FIA GT3 cars, and that it combines a five-round Sprint Cup and a five-round Endurance Cup into an overall title, with the 24 Hours of Spa paying the most points, and splits entries into Pro, Gold, Silver and Bronze classes by driver rating. Sister series run in America, Asia and Australia.

  • 2025: BMW reports that Kelvin van der Linde and Charles Weerts (Team WRT, BMW M4 GT3 Evo) clinched the overall drivers' title at the Barcelona finale, the first overall champions with BMW, and WRT took the overall teams' title.
  • 2026 (finished): Sportscar365 reports that Maro Engel and Lucas Auer (Winward Racing, No. 48 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo) won the overall drivers' title. It was confirmed before the final round after the RACB National Court of Appeal overturned their disqualification from the second Misano Sprint race (over wheel bearings) and restored their third place. Engel, Auer and Luca Stolz won the Endurance Cup, settled at the Nurburgring; the series' preview names that entry Mercedes-AMG Team Mann-Filter. The Portimao finale on 17 October was won by Mercedes-AMG Team GetSpeed's No. 17 (Ralf Aron, Maximilian Goetz, Fabian Schiller). BMW says Team WRT won the overall and Sprint Cup teams' titles. The 2026 Sprint Cup drivers' champions could not be confirmed.
